Art By Madhumita
In every culture, every city, every family, there are stories. Folk stories connect us with our communities and shared history while fairy tales show us the magic of our world. In this issue of The Echo, we have collected unique, and novel takes on classic fables from teens around the globe. Like the Brothers Grimm, we have assembled a multicultural collection of fables about lovesick mermaids, man-eating monsters, and everything in-between. The art on our cover, created by Madhumita Unnikrishnan, depicts the Hindu myth of Mohini’s trick, where the god Vishnu transforms into the temptress Mohini to slay a powerful demon. This beautiful illustration reminds us that when we write and share stories, we are participating in an artistic tradition that has made humans weep, roar and cheer for millennia.
