The Echo Teen Art & Lit Mag is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit literary magazine made by teens for teens.
The magazine was established at a local high school in 2011 in Tampa, Florida under the guidance of writer and English teacher John Eric Vona.
In 2021, with the help of the nonprofit organization founded by a dedicated group of former staff members, The Echo Teen Art & Lit Mag began accepting submissions from around the globe. Since then, the magazine has published art and writing from many countries, including Nigeria, Poland, Singapore, and the Philippines.

Staff
Little Bats
Abby (Pictured above left) is silent but should never be confused as timid; her wings help her fly through writings and edits for the ECHO cave! Eshani Ghatak (Above middle) is a lover of writing, music, and is fueled by pure ambition to get 1% better every day. She uses her bat wings to help her fly through producing and editing podcasts. She uses echolocation to navigate the various tasks throughout the Echo and to be a team player. Noa Hutcheson (Above right) is fueled by caffeine, procrastination, and a love for her carabiner. She uses echolocation to navigate the never-ending fonts and colors for the social media.
Silly Shrews
Alexis Barr (Above left) uses their long whiskers and nose to sniff their way to good stories! Unfortunately, these stories mostly consist of fanfiction. Kylee Haynes (Above right): Squeak! Squeak Squeak Squeak! Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak! Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak Squeak? Squeak Squeak Squeak. (translation) Heya! My name’s Kylee (Pictured below)! I’m a silly lil shrew! Did you know that shrews paralyze prey for hours later? No? Neither did I. Kiersten Lee (Below left) loves eating three times her body weight in one sitting and sinking her sharp little teeth into a good story. But her favorite thing to do is use her powers of echolocation to seek out a unique piece of writing. Emily Sumner (Bottom right): I’m under your feet. I’m in the walls. I need to eat. Can you hear me crawl? I might be tiny. I may be small. But don’t underestimate me. I’ll be your downfall.
Nessa (Pictured above left) is the gnarliest narwhal in town, fueled by rock and monster, as well as the embodiment of Rainbow Dash... she likes food. Ah, the mystical Weather Riley (Above middle) in their natural habitat, room 125. They use the vibrations from their big poky horn to locate sound effects for the Echo’s awesome podcast, leaving the other critters in the ECHOtic ocean mesmerized. Yo whats up, Maya (Pictured top right) is a narwhal with a big head a great sense of awesomeness. Bailey (Bottom left) is full of magic, full of unicorn, and full of beach. Therefore, narwhal. Glitter sparkles gnarly happiness friendship is magic. As a gnarly narwhal Gabby (Below right) is a Katseye fan who uses her majestic sparkling horn to summon Katseye to play her theme song Gnarly. So next time you hear a faint whisper of the song Gnarly, know it’s Gabby playing her siren song in the far-off deep sea.
Big Booty Beluga Whales
Rowan Sizemore (Above left) is a big ol Beluga whale with a big ol butt who loves to do math and take long walks on the beach while sipping pina coladas. The Rachel Goldstein (Above right) does not concern herself with folks not as bootylicious as herself. The Rachel spends half of the time in The Echo talking about her big booty. The other half is spent stressing over layout and drinking Starbucks Frappuccino's or White Duck Espresso (local coffee shop (support your local businesses)). Mr. Vona (Bottom left) has been singing and dancing around The Echo staff for fifteen years now, shaking his generous buns as he helps the staff become better writers and editors. Unfortunately, staffer Molly Pefley was tired of seeing that booty and nicknamed him Ass Crack McGee and despite purchasing belts, the moniker has stuck. Dragged kicking and screaming to the states, Zach (Bottom right) has been working his cheeks off editing the podcast and designing book covers for the magazine. If you have any vegemite in your pantry, be sure to lock it up!
