If you have read any of my other blogs, you know that I gay, and as such I watch a lot of shows featuring WLW (women-loving-women) relationships. And in my six years of knowing women could do that, I've noticed that these women often get dragged over the coals for actions that would get two men or a man and a woman a light scolding, if anything.
Just to make it perfectly clear, I think it is fine to criticize these ships. A relationship being queer does not mean we have to sweep all our criticisms back into the closet, but I do think that WLW couples get a lot more criticism than other couples simply because they're women. Yay! It's not homophobia, it's misogyny.
The most recent-ish example is Caitvi, from Arcane, which does have a lot of problems. Most originating from Caitlyn. It's so messy that I wouldn't even bring it up, except for the fact that every other ship in the show is like this. Caitvi was rushed and kind of toxic? Yes. But Timebomb and Jayvik are literally always trying to kill each other, and nobody has anything bad to say about them, except how much they would like more of the ship!
