Why Everybody Hates Your Main Character

That title was obnoxious wasn’t it? Well that’s how your character feels when I read it!

Apologies, that was out of character. Or was it? 

But on a real note, I find myself abandoning stories by the dozen because of poor character writing and I’m sure you guys can relate. Beyond the motivations of a character or their morale is the tone of the character, how the author (you) feels about that character or simply whether they (you) intend for the audience to like them or not.  

Sometimes, authors (you) fail in evoking the correct feelings for a character, hence ‘bad character writing/development’.
